A new era in iron performance! The r7 CGB MAX iron incorporates Inverted Core Technology (ICT), a metalwood breakthrough used to expand the size of the COR zone in TaylorMade drivers. ICT changes the way the clubface behaves at impact and increases the size of the zone that delivers high initial ball speed. These R7 CGB Max clubs are exactly what the description says. They are very forgiving, and easy to hit, they added the distance for my mishit shots, I like them very much.
TaylorMade 2009 r7 CGB Max Irons easily replaced my previous R16 Calloway irons. The swing seems smoother, there is less temptation to swing hard and there is less twisting in my hands.
I have tried many sets of irons and the r7 CGB Max Irons are the best yet of my experiments. Very consistent ball flight and distance. I am about 4 to 6 yards longer on short and mid-irons and 10 yards longer with 4 and 5 irons. The extra length may be a factor of greater forgiveness.
The TaylorMade 2009 r7 CGB Max Irons 4-9PAS are very easy to hit and they get the ball in the air very quickly and easily, but the noise at impact is like someone scrapping their nails down a blackboard.
